First off, and no fault of the band, but the weather forecast was awful. I hoped to make it to Band on the Wall before the storm broke. I did not. It came down so hard and heavy, I could barely see my hand in front of my face. By the time that I reached the venue, I looked like I’d fallen in the canal. Everything was sodden, and I mean everything.
Band of the Wall is a venue I’ve always meant to go to and, now I’ve been, I’ll keep an eye on their offerings. It’s a great place with really friendly staff. Because I was sodden, my arthritis flared up and I was in a bit of pain. They found me a seat upstairs, tucked away but still with a good view of the stage. I’m still very grateful for that care. A towel might have been nice, though!
BANNERS is a three-piece band from Liverpool. Their music swings from poppy to lyrical, and they are brilliant live. BotW is a fairly intimate venue anyway, but lead singer Mike was chatty and brought us in even more. His apology before singing “The Best View in Liverpool” was so funny.

Wet I might have been. And 50 years old. But I was on my feet, bouncing along, regardless. I couldn’t help myself as so many of their songs are just that catchy.
I arrived at Band on the Wall not really knowing who BANNERS were. I left a massive fan and I hope that they tour again soon!
